Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information Quiet Signal LLC (“Quiet Signal,” “we” or “us”) collects when you use Everyday Mahj, how we use it, who helps us handle it and the choices you have. It covers the Everyday Mahj website, web app and mobile apps (together, the “Service”). The short version: we collect only what we need to run the game and show your stats, we don’t sell your information, and we don’t show ads.

1. Information you give us
You can play Everyday Mahj as a guest without giving us anything. If you create an account or contact us, we collect:
Account details: your username, email address and password. Your password is stored in hashed form by our authentication provider, and we never see it.
Profile photo: if you choose to add one. It’s optional, and you can remove it at any time.
Reports: if you report another player, the reason you choose and any details you write.
Messages: anything you send us, for example through our contact page.
2. Information collected when you play
When you’re signed in, we record:
Each game you finish: the result, the winning hand, the number of turns, how long you actively played, how close you came to winning and a snapshot of the final board, so you can reopen it from your history.
When you start a game, so we can tell how many games are finished.
Your visits: when a visit starts and how long you’re active, so we can understand how the game is used.
Players you block.
When you play as a guest, we record only the outcome of each finished game (whether it was won, the number of turns and how long it took), with nothing that identifies you.
Like most online services, our hosting and authentication providers automatically log technical information such as your IP address, browser or device type and the time of each request. This is used to run and secure the Service.
3. Information stored on your device
The app stores a few things in your browser or on your device so it works properly: the game you’re in the middle of, your light or dark mode choice, and your sign-in session. This information stays on your device, and clearing your browser data removes it. Everyday Mahj doesn’t use advertising cookies or third-party analytics or tracking tools, in the app or on this website.
4. How we use your information
We use your information to:
Run the game and your account, and save your progress.
Show your stats, game history, daily streak and leaderboard standing.
Keep the community safe, including checking usernames and profile photos and reviewing reports.
Understand how the Service is used, using totals and averages rather than individual activity, so we can improve it.
Send you messages about your account, such as a password reset. We don’t send marketing emails.
Protect the Service, prevent abuse and comply with the law.
5. What other players can see
If you have an account, other players can see your username, your profile photo and your standing on the leaderboard. Tapping your name shows a player card with your wins, win rate, games played, most-won hand and when you joined. Your email address is never shown. If you block someone, neither of you can see the other on the leaderboard or open the other’s player card.
6. Who we share information with
We don’t sell your information, and we don’t share it for advertising. We share it only with service providers that help us run Everyday Mahj, who may use it only to provide their services to us:
Supabase, for accounts, sign-in, our database, photo storage and account emails.
Vercel, which hosts the Everyday Mahj web app.
Google Cloud Vision, which automatically checks profile photos for inappropriate content before they appear.
Slack, where reports about players are delivered to us for review.
Webflow, which hosts this website.
If you download our app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, Apple or Google handles that download under its own privacy policy. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the safety of our players or the public, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of our business, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your account information for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, your profile, username, photo, game history, stats, streak, visit records, blocks and reports are deleted right away. Copies may remain in our providers’ backups for a short period before they’re overwritten. Guest game results contain nothing that identifies anyone, so we keep them to understand how the game is played. Reports are also deleted if the reported account is deleted.
8. Your choices and rights
You can change your username and photo, or remove your photo, from Profile › Account › Edit profile. To delete your account and its data, go to the same screen, tap “Delete account” at the bottom, then confirm. It’s deleted straight away. You can also play without an account at all.
If you can’t get into the app, you can ask us to delete your account instead. Choose “Delete my account” on our contact page, or email everyday-mahj@quietsignal.co from the address on your account. We’ll confirm it’s you and delete the account and its data within 7 days.
Depending on where you live, including California, the European Union and the United Kingdom, you may have the right to request a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, or receive it in a portable format. To make a request, contact us. We’ll respond within the time the law requires, and we won’t treat you differently for exercising your rights. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
9. Children
Everyday Mahj is intended for people aged 13 and over, and we don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we’ll delete it.
10. Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls that limit each account to its own data, and by collecting only what we need. No online service can guarantee perfect security, so please use a password you don’t use anywhere else.
11. Where your information is processed
Quiet Signal is based in the United States, and your information is stored and processed in the United States. If you use Everyday Mahj from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those where you live.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we’ll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
